Douglas M. Cohen is an independent consultant who acts as a chief financial officer, adding value to a series of smaller companies that need an experienced senior financial executive on a part-time basis.   Mr. Cohen has 30+ years of financial experience, including 17 years as the CFO of four different Boston-area public and private companies.   

From 1996 to 1999, Doug was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of  Applied Recycling, Inc., a technology-based start-up company.   

From 1989 to 1995, he was the Chief Financial Officer (and a Partner) of The Boston Financial Group, one of the nation’s ten largest  real-estate investment management firms and one of the top twenty managers of multi-family housing. 

From 1986 to 1989, he was the Chief Financial Officer of NHD Stores, Inc., a publicly-held retail chain.   Previously, he had been the Treasurer of a nationwide franchising company.  Earlier in his career, Doug had a series of positions at a large, nationally-known retail company.   

Mr.  Cohen holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree from Harvard  College.  He is a member of Financial Executives International and the Treasurers’ Club of Boston.  He has an NASD Series 27 certification, and is a Massachusetts licensed real estate broker.
