Case Study: Interim Controller in crisis mode for year end close; Hyperion implementation:
 
Riverpark consultant was brought in on a short-term consulting engagement to serve as the acting Corporate Controller of a global apparel manufacturer.

  • Partnered with the new CFO – managing year-end close and audit.
  • Mentored and trained new financial reporting staff
  • Re-engineered the closing process with Hyperion Enterprise reducing the close by more than a week.


Case Study: Systems Integration and acquisition/organization combination
 
As a result of a recent acquisition, a $40 million hi-tech manufacturing company had two separate accounting functions lead by two accounting managers.  The challenge was to integrate the different manufacturing and finance systems in addition to combining the accounting and finance functions of the two operations.
 
Under the direction of the consultant a new manufacturing /financial system was defined, purchased and installed over a period of 6 months.   The two functions were combined with a new organization structure and position descriptions and a full-time controller to run the operation was hired.


Case Study: Interim CFO/Consumer Products
 
Riverpark member was hired to become an interim CFO for an investor led buyout of a division of a major consumer products company.  This $15 million company markets products to an ethnic market through traditional food channels and ethnic stores.  As Interim CFO, inventory controls were established and sales accounting procedures restructured to conform to GAAP.  

The Company had purchased MAS 200 for their manufacturing and financial system but had failed to install.  The implementation was jump-started and the accounting, inventory, receivables and bills of material modules were installed and implemented.  The assignment concluded with the hire of permanent VP Finance. 


Case Study: Manage turnaround of finance department for division of Fortune 500 company
 
The Consultant was brought into this troubled division to restore controls and financial statement credibility.  The division provided specialty packaging for the Company’s principal products and had poor inventory controls and unreconciled intercompany accounts that were $ millions out of balance. 

  • Established strong inventory controls and monthly physical inventories to restore credibility.  Trained accounting staff to ensure future accuracy.
  • Introduced accurate bills of material to improve cost of goods and inventory accounting. 
  • Assisted in recruiting and training of new CFO; provided recommendations for maintenance of newly improved controls and systems.
